Blue Mouse Ears
Small. Rounded blue leaves with excellent substance form a tight mound. It has often been listed as a miniature, but it has been found to grow larger than originally thought and the leaf size exceeds the AHS limit for miniatures. The lavender flowers on short scapes are in perfect proportion to the plant. I can't remember a hosta that became so popular so quickly.

Maya Tritone
Small. Narrow chartreuse to gold leaves, slightly wavy, with lighter yellow to creamy-white veins. In the summer, older leaves may turn pale yellow or white, while new growth emerges chartreuse to gold, giving a multicolor effect. Very unusual.

Moon River
Small. Forms a small mound of blue-green leaves, turning green in summer, with a white margin and a bit of corrugation.

Mountain Mist
Small. The plant emerges pure white in the spring, with just a bit of green in the throat. Green speckles develop gradually and progressively cover the leaf, as shown in the picture, taken in late June. As the summer progresses, the leaves get darker, until the speckling is no longer obvious. A Bridgewood Gardens introduction first offered in 2007. This is a sport of 'Allegan Fog'. The only difference is that 'Mountain Mist' lacks the dark green border on 'Allegan Fog'. Because there is a significant amount of green pigment in the leaf for a good part of the year, the plant is reasonably vigorous. The operative term in the preceding sentence is "reasonably vigorous". You cannot expect a plant with this kind of coloring to be as strong a grower as a normally colored hosta. It needs plenty of light to do well. Introduced at about the same time as 'London Fog', which is probably the same plant.

Spiranthes odorata
This is a real native gem, with spikes of lightly fragrant, white blooms in Sept and October. It is one of the easiest of the native orchids to grow and will spread by rhizomes to form a colony under the right conditions. Prefers a moisture retentive soil and will even thrive as a marginal bog plant. It helps to use a heavy winter mulch until the root system is well established, especially to get through the first winter. Also sometimes listed as Spiranthes cernua var. odorata.
